Photo Challenge: Saturated

SATURATED (Sept2013)

passport holder surprise 001

When summer ends and autumn begins, it is time to witness the turning of leaves into red, orange, and brown colors painting nature’s palette. Unfortunately, we don’t see much of this happening in Florida because of our warm climate. No wonder my eyes got big with excitement when I saw this tree in our neighborhood SATURATED by orange color. It’s beautiful!

Photo Challenge: Inside

INSIDE (Sept2013)

Last weekend my husband surprised me with a hotel reservation at the Sheraton Sand Key Hotel in Clearwater, Florida. It was unexpected because, although it was our anniversary, we had already celebrated our Happy 4th two months ago (in the Bahamas) because of my work schedule. I forgot that I married a romantic man who can turn a simple weekend into a sublime adventure.

While I thought the hotel reservation was the only surprise, I was astonished when while napping I heard a knock at the door. Guess what? It was the Houseman delivering a special gift from the hotel’s Executive VP/General Manager.

Even my husband was pleasantly surprised. The act of kindness from the hotel’s management was truly heart warming. Thank you, Sheraton for making our stay in your hotel an enjoyable one.

Photo Challenge: Unusual POV

UNUSUAL POV (Sept.2013)

working out 011

Would you agree this looks like a beautiful tropical oasis on a television screen? I agree – but wrong. It’s a window!

To offer a different perspective for my subject, I used the window (as suggested by Lynn Wohlers) to frame my shot. The result was an Unusual POV. Thank you for reading!

SEA (September2013)

Since my husband and I sealed our matrimonial bond in a simple beach wedding at Honeymoon Island, I have since developed more of a love for the SEA. It will now always remind me of that glorious day when my husband and I forever pledged our devotion to one another.  Since then, it has also been our tradition to celebrate our wedding anniversary on the beach near the magnificent body of water.

FOCUS (August2013)

Photography Day 3 034

With our students returning to school this week, a sizable chunk of my time has suddenly focused on work  again. This year, I am humbled to be assigned to also lead our After School Enrichment Program. Like any first timer, I am very excited and yet a little bit nervous, too.

To start the school year right, our After School Enrichment Program has decided to focus on reacquainting our children with grace and courtesy lessons this month. This will lay the foundation for a peaceful and engaging classroom environment that is very important for our school success. Lessons include respect for oneself, others, and environment. Concepts on friendliness, sportsmanship, and conflict resolutions are also incorporated. While I was a little bit anxious how our first week would turn out, thankfully, everything went well.  It was a blast! Our children went home learning a lot from the program, while enjoying our wow-that-is-so-cool activities.

Thanks for reading.

CAREFREE (August2013)

carefree 081

As the summer comes to a close, my schedule becomes a roller coaster of events.  It’s that time of year – back to school! I know that with my grad school, teaching job, and wifely duties, it will be tough. So, with very little time to spare, this past couple of weeks I have tried to squeeze every Nano second out of my summer vacay. In between setting up our classroom, preparing lesson plans, and finishing my Montessori Teacher training, I arranged some last minute guilty pleasures with husband. While I enjoyed them a lot, the pace and number of activities wore me out. So, last Friday after I got out of work, I decided to go to the beach and just revel in my “life is sweet” spot. CAREFREE! Not doing anything, but simply being present in the moment – seaside.
